Therabody Introduces Performance Team to Champion the Future of Sport and Recovery
L OS ANGELES, CA (April 16, 2025) – Therabody, the global leader in wellness technology, is proud to announce the Therabody Performance Team, an inaugural collective of six athletes who not only excel in their athleticism, but are redefining what it means to be high performance athletes today.
The Performance Team continues with Therabody’s mission to support athletes who are building what’s next — not just for themselves, but for their sport as a whole and for those coming up behind them. The initiative is about celebrating athletes who are evolving their athletic events, elevating others, and embracing recovery as a critical part of their journey. The first six members of the Performance Team represent a new kind of performance athlete: those who are out in the wild, pushing boundaries, advocating for change, and forging new paths in their sport — often without access to the recovery tools and support systems that elite teams take for granted.
Meet the Therabody Performance Team:
- Ezra Frech (Track & Field) – 2x Paralympic gold medalist, motivational speaker, co-founder of Angel City Sports, Ezra is committed to changing how the world sees disability through the promotion of the Paralympic movement.
- Phil Gaimon (Cyclist) – 2x World Hillclimb Champion and entrepreneur, Phil is now building inclusive ride culture and hosting community-drive events such as his infamous Cookie Fondo in Malibu.
- Andrew Jackson (Cyclist) – Andrew is a Los Angeles-based cyclist who transitioned from professional BMX to road and gravel racing and remains committed to reshaping the sport's image while promoting inclusivity.
- Alexi Pappas (Runner) – 2016 Olympian in the 10,000-meter running event, marathon runner, author and filmmaker, Alexi continues to use her platform to explore mental health, resilience, and the athlete’s journey.
- Chelsea Sodaro (Triathlete) – 2022 IRONMAN World Champion, Cheslea is known for her transition from elite running to triathlon competition alongside her advocacy of female athletes and her ability to balance motherhood and sports.
- Cody Townsend (Skier) – Adventurer and filmmaker known for pushing the limits of backcountry skiing and his ambitious project "The FIFTY", Cody aims to climb and ski all 50 classic descents in North America.
“Recovery isn’t a luxury for athletes like these — it’s a necessity,” said John Solomon, Chief Marketing Officer at Therabody. “We’re proud to support individuals who are driving their sport forward. They’re bold, mission-driven, and relentless in their pursuit of growth. With this team, we’re putting science, innovation, and support into the hands of people who will do something meaningful with it.”
As part of the initiative, the Performance Team will gain exclusive access to Therabody’s industry-leading products, cutting-edge scientific research, and personalized recovery plans that are designed to optimize performance and overall well-being. Therabody’s education and resources will offer the athletes valuable insights into recovery, performance optimization and injury prevention, solidifying Therabody’s role not just as a provider of innovative recovery solutions, but also as a thought leader in sports performance. Through this team, Therabody continues to deepen its relationships with athletes everywhere, reinforcing that recovery is the key to unlocking peak performance.
"Therabody has been a critical part of my recovery and training for years — helping me stay healthy, focused, and ready to chase big goals. After winning two gold medals at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, I am going for three golds at the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics,” said Ezra Frech. “I put everything I have into my sport and I’m proud to officially join the Therabody Performance Team alongside other athletes who have the same mentality. This partnership is a continuation of the important work I’ve already done with Dr. J, and I am thrilled to take it to the next level."
“I take my recovery as seriously as I take my goals — it’s essential to performing at my best,” said Olympian and marathoner Alexi Pappas. “That’s why I’m proud to be part of the Therabody Performance Team. It’s a powerful opportunity to shine a light on how recovery impacts not just athletic performance, but overall wellbeing — and I’m excited to do that alongside teammates who share that mindset."
Therabody will actively support each member of the Performance Team through collaboration on impactful initiatives, participating in their events and by celebrating their achievements. Throughout the year, the company will showcase the Performance Team’s unique stories, focusing on the resilience, recovery, and commitment each has to their sport.
